Baby Swimming Classes in Flower Mound
Many parents spend a great deal of time thinking about and looking for the best activities for their babies to provide a healthy start in life.
As you consider your various options, don’t overlook the value of baby swim lessons in Flower Mound. Learn how this activity can benefit your little one, along with how and when to get started in the guide below.
Provide a Lifetime of Benefits With Baby Swim Lessons
For parents, one of the scariest things is not being able to protect their children. Though it’s not possible to prevent every accident and mishap, one thing you can control as a parent is providing your children with the tools they need when something unexpected does occur.
Swim lessons are one way to do this. The CDC reports drowning to be the top cause of death in children under four, and the second highest cause of death in children from five to 14. As most of these deaths occur in the family’s own pool, swimming lessons are an effective way of protecting your child from such an accident.
Though safety is a top priority, it’s not the only benefit that children receive. Swimming is a great workout for people of all ages. It gets the heart pumping and helps the muscles develop properly, contributing to overall health. And if your child decides to play school sports, swimming can enhance his or her athletic performance by improving balance, coordination, and range of motion.
Learning to swim also boosts cognitive development. Studies have shown that children who take swim lessons have performed better in subjects like math and reading. Beginning swim lessons as a baby can lead to better academic performance throughout life.
Another important benefit of swim lessons is the confidence that your child builds. Confidence has the ability to affect every moment of life, from learning to walk to building the life they dream of living as an adult.
What Is the Best Age to Start Swimming Lessons With Emler?
In short, the best time is now. No matter how old your child is, he or she can always benefit from swim lessons. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends starting at the age of one, but your baby can actually benefit from starting even earlier.
At Emler Swim School, we offer classes to babies as young as two months old. Such an early start allows a gradual introduction to water.
Don’t worry, though – this isn’t a sink-or-swim form of learning. We believe that forceful, fear-inducing methods aren’t conducive to creating a love of water play. Instead, we strive to make structured lessons engaging and fun through games, toys, songs, and more that help your baby associate good feelings with water.
We also believe in the power of parental involvement and encouragement. You will be with your baby every step of the way, loving, cuddling, and cheering them on. Slowly, we work together to build up confidence and independence in the water.

The Supers class is for two years of age, toddlers on land maybe, but able to move five feet through the water with ease. During this series of classes, parents will eventually get out of the water and cheer from the sidelines as the children learn more skills.
This class extends the range to seven feet of swimming and teaches: a sitting jump entry, then a turn in the water and a swim back to the wall. It’s going to be easy to encourage from the edge of the pool as these little swimmers have fun.
