6 months – 35 months
The Waterbabies classes only seem like fun and games. But this is where natural swimming for pure joy begins, in a wonderful environment with parental love and warm smiles all round.
Baby Swimming Classes in Round Rock
If you're familiar with the Emler Guarantee, you know that children can safely discover their love for the water while becoming experienced swimmers.
They’re introduced to the water beginning in Bathtime Babies when they’re just 2-5 months old at Emler Swim School in Round Rock. At 6 months old, they’re ready for swim lessons.
How Young Can My Baby Start Swim Lessons?
It’s recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics for children to start learning to swim at 1 year old. At Emler Swim School, our successful curriculum shows children can start at 6 months. By this time, babies have typically had their first set of shots and are strong enough to sit upright. Parents never have to worry because we offer programs specifically for babies.
Is It True? Can My Baby Start Swimming at 6 months old?
That’s correct! Our Waterbabies classes run from 6 months to 35 monthss old, which is when they move to the Aquatots program. By then, they’re already at least 5 feetthrough the water.
Babies can learn to enjoy being in the water when it’s properly introduced, which is why we start with a pre-class introduction to bath time when they’re as young as 2 months old.
Emler Swim School’s Approach To Baby Swim Lessons
Babies need to feel comfortable in the water, so our baby swim lessons are full of toys, games, and songs. Our goal is to reduce their anxiety while boosting their confidence early on. This way, the joy of the water can happen naturally.
During our classes, you’re right by their side with hugs, smiles, and support as you safely accompany your baby.
We never rely on forceful methods that provoke discomfort or fear, nor do we engage in competition or add stress to the lessons. Instead, we want babies to feel happy in the water, and we focus on positive reinforcement and celebrating every achievement. The key is to encourage babies to learn to swim at their own pace.
Water Safety Is A Skill That Lasts A Lifetime
One of the best things you can do for your baby is teach them to swim while they’re young. There are many bodies of water in the world around us, at home and in public settings, so this is a survival skill for all children. While we have fun and games at Emler, we also use water safety and constant supervision to ensure your little one is always secure.
Additionally, learning to swim can lead to a lifetime of water enjoyment, from spending the day at the beach to choosing a hotel with a pool.
Which Class Is Best For My Child?
You know our classes are safe and structured, while children think it’s just a fun way to develop and improve their skills. As a parent, you need to ensure your child is enrolled in the right swim class.

Now they learn to strike out on their own a little, and kick forward through the water three feet. Our instructors are super-attentive during this important class because it’s where babies learn that the water is not a struggle but a place to play in and travel through, for the sheer joy of swimming.

Advanced Waterbabies
Parent joins baby in the water
The Advanced class is for the babies who now regard the water as fun – a supportive medium rather than a challenge. These little veterans of the Waterbabies training will learn to kick through the water 5 feet, while holding their breath. It’s time to learn some moves.
Watch your baby practice entering the water, turning around to kick back to the wall, and then climbing out of the water. Congratulations, you have a water baby! It’s okay to cry a little if you want – everyone gathers to watch at this exciting stage of learning, as young ones start playing in the water with natural confidence.

Super Waterbabies
Parent joins baby in the water for the first 3 weeks
The Supers class is for two years of age, toddlers on land maybe, but able to move five feet through the water with ease. During this series of classes, parents will eventually get out of the water and cheer from the sidelines as the children learn more skills.
This class extends the range to seven feet of swimming and teaches: a sitting jump entry, then a turn in the water and a swim back to the wall. It’s going to be easy to encourage from the edge of the pool as these little swimmers have fun.
