6 months – 35 months
The Waterbabies classes only seem like fun and games. But this is where natural swimming for pure joy begins, in a wonderful environment with parental love and warm smiles all round.
Baby Swimming Classes in The Woodlands
The Emler Guarantee says that any child can learn and master the art of swimming and enjoy every bit of being in the water.
At Emler Swim School in The Woodlands, kids can be introduced to water fun and games in the bath as newborns aged 2–5 month and start swimming classes at 6 months.
When Can My Baby Start Swim Lessons?
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) proposes waiting until your young one is at least one year old before starting swim lessons. With 48 years of experience and a proven, award-winning curriculum, Emler Swim School believes kids can begin swimming classes as early as 6 months old with specially tailored classes.
Can My Baby Start Learning to Swim at 6 Months Old?
Yes! Emler offers Waterbabies classes for babies from 6 months to 35 months old, where they graduate to the Aquatots program. We also have a pre-class introduction to bath time fun and games for infants as young as 2 months! Most babies love being in water; we aim to introduce them correctly in a safe environment full of parental and instructor love and support.
The Emler Approach To Baby Swim Lessons
Swimming lessons should be fun! Emler baby swimming classes are all fun and games! Toys, songs, and other water activities help reduce anxiety and build comfort and confidence when acclimating to the aquatic environment. We aim to let your little one experience the joy of being in water naturally—surrounded by love, warm smiles, and encouragement from their parents.
Our teaching approach eliminates forceful methods that may provoke fear and discomfort. A parent accompanies their kid in the water for positive reinforcement, focus, and comfort. We know you and your baby want to learn and have fun, so our swim classes are noncompetitive and not stressful.
Water Safety for Now and for a Lifetime
Water safety is a survival skill and the best gift a parent can give to their children. With standing water almost everywhere that poses a drowning risk to your baby, teaching them water safety skills is extremely important.
Even exposed shallow water sources, such as buckets, bathtubs, and toilets, pose a drowning hazard. At Emler, we teach your baby to be confident in the water. Learning to respect, understand, and love water, plus close supervision, saves lives.
Which Class Is Right for Me?
At Emler, the curriculum is completely structured, full of fun, and a great experience that can help your child to respond to water safety emergencies. The lessons become more fun as your kid achieves new milestones.

How do you learn to swim? You start singing, of course! Class begins for you and your baby with songs and activities in the water. With the assistance of a skilled instructor, you will learn how to increase your baby’s comfort and teach underwater breath control. Kicking in a noodle boat is a favorite activity along with back floating under London Bridge. Waterbabies learn to submerge 8 to 10 seconds and kick 3 feet through the water.

Waterbabies+
Parents join baby in the water
The Plus class is for babies who have learned the basics and are now comfortable under the water and can control their breath for 8 to 10 seconds. Now they learn to strike out on their own a little, and kick forward through the water three feet. Our instructors are super-attentive during this important class because it’s where babies learn that the water is not a struggle but a place to play in and travel through, for the sheer joy of swimming.
And don’t worry, Mom and Dad, a skilled instructor is right there for you too, cheering you on so YOU can feel confident as your baby concentrates on the fun.

Advanced Waterbabies
Parent joins baby in the water
The Advanced class is for the babies who now regard the water as fun – a supportive medium rather than a challenge. These little veterans of the Waterbabies training will learn to kick through the water 5 feet, while holding their breath. It’s time to learn some moves.
Watch your baby practice entering the water, turning around to kick back to the wall, and then climbing out of the water. Congratulations, you have a water baby! It’s okay to cry a little if you want – everyone gathers to watch at this exciting stage of learning, as young ones start playing in the water with natural confidence.

Super Waterbabies
Parent joins baby in the water for the first 3 weeks
The Supers class is for two years of age, toddlers on land maybe, but able to move five feet through the water with ease. During this series of classes, parents will eventually get out of the water and cheer from the sidelines as the children learn more skills.
This class extends the range to seven feet of swimming and teaches: a sitting jump entry, then a turn in the water and a swim back to the wall. It’s going to be easy to encourage from the edge of the pool as these little swimmers have fun.
