This program takes 3-year-olds in small groups (no more than 4 per instructor) and teaches them to be submerged under water, how to control their breath, and how to kick forward through the water. Classes are engaging, using imaginative daily themes.
Toddler Swimming Classes in Houston - Meyerland
The Meyerland Aquatots program is designed for three-year-olds who are ready to learn or enhance skills such as submersion, breath control, and destination kicking, all while using themes that encourage the use of imagination.
Aquatots classes are kept at a maximum of four students per teacher, allowing every child to get the attention and supervision they need. Children are kept within their age group, allowing them to learn how to safely submerge and kick forward in the water with their peers.
Emler’s goal is to introduce new swimmers to the water and boost the existing skills of children with more experience.
The Emler Approach To Swim Classes
It’s no secret that kids enjoy having fun as they grow and learn, which is why Emler in Meyerland offers classes that combine these elements. Instruction is given through themes and games, in a positive, fun environment, and competition has no place at Emler. Instead of stress and competition, your child’s accomplishments are recognized and celebrated.
Classes are led by certified, highly-specialized teachers who help children discover, or re-discover, the joy of the water. Children gradually take the steps to become experienced swimmers, such as holding their breath longer, rolling over in the water, submerging underwater, and learning how to move through the water on their own.
Emler classes are full of laughter as children naturally develop water skills in a safe, cheerful environment. Teachers and students form bonds based on total trust and support.
With 48 years of experience and an award-winning curriculum, Emler guarantees your child will develop the skills they need to become an accomplished swimmer.
Parents Are Always Invited
As a parent, you’re always invited to attend, watch, and cheer during every class. If you want to learn more, you can check out Emler’s guide, Your Child’s First Swim Lesson. Additionally, you can discover how Meyerland’s Emler Facilities are maintained for both children and their parents, complete with cleanliness, safety, and physical comfort.
Find the Appropriate Class for Your Toddler
It is essential for young children to learn how to swim in the right environment for their skills. This way, they can increase their self-confidence and learn in an atmosphere that uses positive reinforcement.
To achieve this goal, every age-appropriate class features over 20 progressive teaching levels and free evaluations of your child’s swim skills. This way, we know where your child is in terms of skills, and we are able to determine which level is appropriate to start teaching your child to swim.
There are four levels in the Aquatots toddler swim program, and you can ensure your child is placed at the right level by checking out the Emler guide Finding the Right Class for Your Child.
If your child is aged 3 and older, you’ll begin with our free 10-minute Swim Skills Evaluation, which is a one-on-one program in which a certified instructor assesses your child’s skill levels and places them in the right program.
What Your Toddler Will Learn During Swim Class
Your toddler will learn water safety techniques that will last a lifetime. The lessons utilize songs and games, making them more fun.
The Waterbabies program has six levels that help place your toddler at the right level depending on their skills.
In early stages, parents join their child in the water. But as their skills progress, your toddler will be with a teacher while you watch from outside the pool.
As your toddler improves their skills, they will first gain confidence in the water and learn to submerge comfortably for 8-10 seconds.
As their skill set improves, your child will learn to kick through the water, first for up to 3 feet and, at higher skill levels, for up to 10 feet.
At our X-treme Waterbabies level, your toddler will learn rollover breathing, an essential water safety skill where they learn to roll into a back float to take a new breath.
Throughout the toddler swimming lessons, the distance will get longer, the classes more fun, and the smiles wider!
