This program takes 3-year-olds in small groups (no more than 4 per instructor) and teaches them to be submerged under water, how to control their breath, and how to kick forward through the water. Classes are engaging, using imaginative daily themes.
Toddler Swimming Classes in Portland - Tualatin - Martinazzi Square
Enrolling your three-year-old in the Tualatin Aquatots program is a great way to teach them to swim through daily themes and games.
Instructors teach safe submersion, breath control, and destination kicking to help children develop and improve their skills. Classes also have a student-teacher ratio of 4-to-1 to ensure your child receives the attention, support, and supervision they need.
The Emler Swim School Approach
One of the best ways to teach children is through fun activities, as this allows them to learn and grow in a child-friendly environment. With a pleasant, positive atmosphere, as well as non-competitive lessons, children are focused on learning their skills and celebrating their achievements.
Instructors are trained, certified, and highly specialized to create an exciting but safe way to teach children to progress as swimmers. Children learn how to hold their breath longer, roll over, and submerge underwater, all while developing the skills they need to swim independently. With plenty of support, trust, and even laughter, the teacher-student bond at Emler is a strong one.
Emler guarantees children will learn to become skilled swimmers, and they have been successful with their 48 years of experience and outstanding curriculum.
Parents Are Welcome During Every Class
Parents are invited to watch every class from the observation room or on the deck, where they can support and cheer on their children. Additionally, facilities are always safe, clean, and comfortable for swimmers, parents, and instructors. You can learn more about this by checking out Your Child’s First Swim Lesson and Emler Facilities. These guides are designed to make your child’s introduction to swimming classes or transition to higher levels an easier experience.
Find the Right Class for Your Toddler
Learning to swim in an environment that works for your child’s swimming skills is vital to learning water safety. Children need to be able to gain confidence as they learn and grow in the water, which is why Emler uses positive reinforcement rather than competition or techniques that provoke fear and anxiety.
In addition, Emler offers age-specific programs with over 20 gradual teaching levels, as well as free one-on-one Swim Skills Evaluations. The evaluations only take 10 minutes, and they allow instructors to determine what class is right for your kiddo. You can learn more by checking out Finding the Right Class for Your Child.
What Your Toddler Will Learn
Your toddler will learn water safety techniques that will last a lifetime. The lessons utilize songs and games, making them more fun.
The Waterbabies program has six levels that help place your toddler at the right level depending on their skills.
In early stages, parents join their child in the water. But as their skills progress, your toddler will be with a teacher while you watch from outside the pool.
As your toddler improves their skills, they will first gain confidence in the water and learn to submerge comfortably for 8-10 seconds.
As their skill set improves, your child will learn to kick through the water, first for up to 3 feet and, at higher skill levels, for up to 10 feet.
At our X-treme Waterbabies level, your toddler will learn rollover breathing, an essential water safety skill where they learn to roll into a back float to take a new breath.
Throughout the toddler swimming lessons, the distance will get longer, the classes more fun, and the smiles wider!
