Emler Swim School acquired Little Flippers Swim School based in MetroWest near Boston on October 13, 2022. The deal adds two locations to Emler’s roster, which now totals 38 facilities spread across seven states: Texas, Kansas, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, Virginia and Wisconsin.

“We’ve always been impressed with Little Flippers and founders Sally and Edward Poveromo’s resolve to use their talents to prevent drownings,” said Emler CEO Greg Laird who interacted with the couple at United States Swim School Association events throughout the years. “After a heart to heart this year, we realized our organizations had an incredible amount in common, and the timing was right to bring Little Flippers into the Emler family.”

Little Flippers was founded after two separate sets of twin drownings motivated the couple to create a swim school. Its mission is to provide year-round instruction about water safety and promote swimming as a vehicle for education and an active lifestyle. Similarly, Emler’s mission revolves around drowning prevention and giving children the gift of self-rescue skills for a lifetime.

The safety theme for both organizations extends to the pool environment, focusing on providing a clean and comfortable setting. At all locations, Emler and Little Flippers utilize high-quality UV filtration to inactivate viruses in the pool and all facilities have cutting-edge air filtration systems that replace indoor air with fresh air eight times an hour. The schools also make sure the pool water is warm enough for the little ones, so the students can focus on learning.

“Emler Swim School will be a tremendous community partner in water safety and will take exceptional care of our Little Flippers Swim School and Planet Gymnastics families,” said Sally Poveromo, Little Flippers Swim School Founder and CEO. “Having worked with Emler leadership for over 10 years we knew their mission and goals aligned perfectly. We are honored to have them carry on our legacy.”

Beyond the shared mission, Emler and Little Flippers believe children learn best in positive and supportive environments. The schools want children to feel safe and enjoy learning. As a result, the instructors create a fun, nurturing environment that kids are excited to return to.

Little Flippers will continue to operate under its current name with the same enrollment plans, and all staff will be invited to stay.

The Little Flippers Natick location also has a movement education center, Planet Gymnastics, attached to it that Emler has acquired. The school focuses on helping children develop confidence and good exercise habits. It will continue to operate with its current name and staff.

Little Flippers has two locations, one in Natick and one in Winchester. For more information about swim lessons, visit https://www.littleflippersswim.com/ For information about gymnastics lessons, visit https://planetgym.com/
