Waterbabies San Antonio – Huebner

6 months – 35 months

The Waterbabies classes only seem like fun and games. But this is where natural swimming for pure joy begins, in a wonderful environment with parental love and warm smiles all round.

Baby Swimming Classes in San Antonio - Huebner

The Emler Swim SchoolGuarantee states that every child can safely discover their love for the water, gain confidence, and become a great swimmer.

At Emler Swim School Huebner, it all starts with an introduction to bathtime for newborns ages 2-5 months old, and it progresses to swimming classes for babies as young as 6 months old.

How Early Can I Enroll My Baby In Swim Lessons?

While the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends teaching children how to swim when they’re one year old, Emler Swim School proves children can start at 6 months through several decades of experience and a structured curriculum.

Can My Baby Start Learning To Swim At 6 Months Old?

Your baby can certainly start learning how to swim at 6 months old. Emler’s Waterbabies program starts at 6 months and extends to 35 months old. Then, your little one is given more experience through the Aquatots program.

Emler’s Approach To Baby Swim Lessons

At Emler Swim School, their goal is to find ways to help children get used to the water without increasing their fear or anxiety. For example, they may use songs, toys, and games to make your baby feel more comfortable.

While their love for the water needs to happen naturally, swimming only enhances the fun. To achieve this, instructors work with parents to create a safe, fun environment as parents hold their childrenin the water.

Forceful methods that cause discomfort and fear are never used to teach babies to swim, nor do instructors create stress or competition. Instead, the focus is on positive reinforcement and praising each baby’s accomplishments.

Water Safety For A Lifetime

Water is nearly everywhere in today’s world, from bathtubs to swimming pools to duck ponds. This is why swimming and general water safety are important survival skills. Paired with comfort, confidence, and continuous supervision, learning these skills prevents drowning accidents.

Additionally, allowing children to become fond of being in the water provides more choices when it’s time to select vacation destinations and summer activities.

Parents join baby in the water

The Plus class is for babies who have learned the basics and are now comfortable under the water and can control their breath for 8 to 10 seconds. Now they learn to strike out on their own a little, and kick forward through the water three feet. Our instructors are super-attentive during this important class because it’s where babies learn that the water is not a struggle but a place to play in and travel through, for the sheer joy of swimming.

And don’t worry, Mom and Dad, a skilled instructor is right there for you too, cheering you on so YOU can feel confident as your baby concentrates on the fun.

Advanced Waterbabies

Parent joins baby in the water

The Advanced class is for the babies who now regard the water as fun – a supportive medium rather than a challenge. These little veterans of the Waterbabies training will learn to kick through the water 5 feet, while holding their breath. It’s time to learn some moves.

Watch your baby practice entering the water, turning around to kick back to the wall, and then climbing out of the water. Congratulations, you have a water baby! It’s okay to cry a little if you want – everyone gathers to watch at this exciting stage of learning, as young ones start playing in the water with natural confidence.

Super Waterbabies

Parent joins baby in the water for the first 3 weeks

The Supers class is for two years of age, toddlers on land maybe, but able to move five feet through the water with ease. During this series of classes, parents will eventually get out of the water and cheer from the sidelines as the children learn more skills.

This class extends the range to seven feet of swimming and teaches: a sitting jump entry, then a turn in the water and a swim back to the wall. It’s going to be easy to encourage from the edge of the pool as these little swimmers have fun.
