Safety has always been and will continue to be #1 at Emler. We’re doing what we’ve always done – followed or exceeded all local, state and federal guidelines – to protect not just your family but our employees as well.
We’re using CDC recommended cleaning products to wipe the facility every 30 minutes, and making hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes available. Instructors are wearing face shields in the pool, and we are requiring all adults out of the water to wear face coverings over their mouths and noses. Kids are not required to wear masks in the pool but those over the age of 2 are encouraged to wear them while they are not in a lesson.
We are allowing only one caretaker to accompany each little fishy, and chairs in the observation room and on the pool deck are spaced 6 feet apart. Employees are monitoring traffic in and out of the building to remind people about social distancing. Plus, we are taking staff temperatures within 5 minutes of the beginning of a shift. There is more information on our Health & Safety Protocols page.
Yes, it’s safe to be in pools! According to the CDC, there is no evidence that the coronavirus can spread through properly maintained pools. We’ve always valued health and safety, which is why we already had a top-of-the-line purification system with UV lights that kills and inactivates viruses and bacteria in addition to using proper chlorine levels. Every Emler pool meets or exceeds CDC health standards. Plus, our leading-edge air filtration systems replace stale air from the facility with fresh air 8 times per hour.
No one has to wear a mask in the water. Masks in the water are unsafe, which is why we would never require them. Plus, masks are ineffective when they’re wet. Our instructors instead wear face shields in the water.
All adults, including employees and caretakers, out of the water are required to wear a face covering over their noses and mouths. Kids are not required to wear a mask out of the water. However, children over the age of 2 are encouraged to wear a covering over their mouth and nose when entering and exiting the building or if they are not actively participating in a lesson.
We’ve always had small class sizes of 3-4 kiddos, as well as private lessons, and nothing has changed. We now offer the option to form your own private group with family, friends or neighbors you know. Additionally, another option is the parent & child class, with appropriate spacing between families in the pool, where kids receive instruction from a teacher on the deck. We are monitoring and strictly adhering to all local, state and federal guidelines regarding levels of occupancy and the number of people that are allowed in gatherings so we can continue to be the healthiest, happiest pool in town.
I was born in New Jersey. After graduating high school in South Carolina. I attended community college then joined the Navy as a Turbine Technician and Stability Specialist. I spent the better part of 4 years deployed on two different ships stationed out of Virginia. The Navy was such an amazing journey teaching me leadership skills and exposing me to a variety of cultures and customs. After the Navy I went to Old Dominion University in Virginia studying Art Therapy. While at ODU I worked for a well known department store. I then went on the be a manager and trainer for that store for several years moving to multiple states helping to open new stores. After relocating to Houston I joined an internet management team for a high volume company and enjoyed my time with them until I found Emler Swim School. I absolutely love working with kiddos. So, I decided I wanted to get out of the corporate world and back into a meaningful career. After researching that Emler is family owned and the good they do I applied. I was hired on at Emler as the Customer Service Manager for Meyerland in the end of Fall 2018. I am elated to begin the fun as Site director at our Clearlake location.
Seeing smiling faces everyday from staff and students. Emler is such a happy and fun place to be.
I absolutely love to see people grow and help them along their journey. It’s my favorite thing! Whether it is a teacher or manager learning the business or a student learning to swim. Helping people is so much fun. I think that in loving to see people be their best versions will help me to be a great site director.
I spent most of my childhood on the lake and at the beach with my grandparents. Being able to swim was such an important safety skill for us. So they taught me how to be safe around water and how to self rescue. This made summers fun on my grandpa’s boat and knee boarding with my cousins.
When I was about 3 years old we were at the public swimming pool. My brother who was older jumped in from the deep end. I followed him in jumping off the diving board and sank straight to the bottom. I was very fortunate to have family near by and after my parents teaching me the basics I was back in the water having fun in no time.
I love the fact that they always make me feel like a kid myself.
I love fishing, the Aquarium/Zoo, and Concerts.
I am a mom of three daughters, so when I’m not working, I spend my days with them. We love coloring and puzzles and reading together. We also love going to the zoo or the park. My husband and I also love watching Netflix together or playing games. We’re very competitive!
