Emler’s Track Record on Covid And Safety Protocols
Dec 09, 2020
As we see the COVID-19 numbers across the country continue to rise, Emler is proud to say that we’ve had no known outbreaks of COVID-19 in any of our facilities. To date, no one has traced coronavirus transmission to an Emler swim lesson. This fact is even more incredible when you consider that we’ve taught an estimated 10,000 kids per week for a total of 140,000+ lessons spanning more than 14 weeks. So what are we doing right?
Our Disinfecting Procedures and Equipment
First of all, the CDC has found no evidence that the novel coronavirus can be transmitted through pool water. This fact coupled with Emler’s historic emphasis on safety is why Emler swim lessons are the safest around for your child.
Even before COVID, Emler already maintained high-quality UV water purification systems at all locations that use ultraviolet light rays to kill dangerous germs and inactivate viruses. Each facility’s top-of-the-line filtration systems draw in 100% fresh air eight times an hour, removing stale air so that each breath your child draws is only clean, fresh air. All Emler locations also have dehumidifiers with antimicrobial filters and controls that enable us to maintain healthy humidity levels that reduce the survival of bacteria and viruses.
In addition to the cutting-edge equipment, Emler is also following all CDC cleaning protocols and guidelines, using only CDC-recommended cleaning products. Facilities are wiped down throughout the day, especially high traffic areas and all door handles, tables, chairs and toilets.
All adults, staff, and caretakers are required to wear masks over their mouth and nose when not in the pool. We also encourage (but don’t require) kids 3 years and older to wear masks out of the pool when not actively participating in a lesson. Because it is unsafe to wear a mask in the water, our instructors are required to wear face shields while teaching their lessons. We also take staff temperatures within 5 minutes of the start of their shift as well as ask COVID screening questions. If you would like learn more about our safety precautions, please read our Health & Safety Protocols page.
The bottom line is that Emler pools are some of the cleanest and safest places for your children and our instructors to be!
Our Communication Protocols
What happens if a staff member does test positive for COVID-19? We immediately inform any families that came into contact with the staff member during the previous 14 days so they can get tested. The facility will close and receive a deep clean, and anyone that has been in contact with the staff member is requested to stay out of the facility for 14 days. Before any staff can come back to work, they must complete a 14-day quarantine and test negative for COVID-19.
Emler also encourages staff members to stay home from work and get tested if they have any symptoms of illness. We tell all employees that if they are not feeling well, no matter what it might be, do not come into work. This is for the safety of our staff members, as well as our families and children.
Emler Customizes Lessons to Your Comfort Level
Emler is the only swim school that has developed customized options for its families during COVID-19 depending on what your personal comfort level is. We are confident that we have an option for everyone!
Emler offers four in-person options:
- Traditional Emler class with 3-4 students per instructor with physical distancing
- Private one-on-one lessons
- Parent and child classes with physical distancing and the instructor on the pool deck
- Parent and child private lessons with the instructor on the pool deck
If none of these options are viable for you and your family, Emler has developed exclusive DIY lessons through our interactive EmlerSWIM@Home™ curriculum. Each level of EmlerSWIM@Home™ includes 12 easy-to-use instructional video lessons, private one-on-one training, and weekly video calls with a superstar Emler Expert Teacher.
Adults taking part will also be able to join a private Facebook group for parents in the program so they can connect, share tips, and enjoy the benefits of an online community that is usually found in person at the pool. You can currently get a free trial that includes two free lessons so you can try it before you buy it.
In addition to all these options, Emler also has the answer if you don’t have a pool or access to a community pool year-round. You are welcome to use Swim Station and reserve time in 30-minute increments at one of our facilities in the Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, or Kansas City areas.
We hope that our track record, multiple safety protocols, and numerous options for safe swim lessons help reassure you that Emler is the best place to be for your child’s swim instruction!
