Meet Our Emler Lifeguards & Find Out Their Top Safety Tips!

Aug 29, 2019

Authored by Emlerswim

Our lifeguards are the guardians who make sure our pools and swimmers are always safe. Throughout the summer they see so many children who learn to love the water in our pools. We asked some of our incredible lifeguards to recall some of their favorite moments from the summer and water safety tips.

Felicia from Emler Swim School of The Woodlands:

What’s your favorite Emler memory?
  • “My favorite Emler memory is watching one of my Waterbabies take their first steps EVER!!”
As a lifeguard, what is your number one water safety tip?
  • “My #1 safety tip is to keep eyes on your kiddos at ALL times in the water!”
What’s your favorite memory as a lifeguard?
  • “My favorite lifeguard memory is when I made my very first save. I helped a little boy out of the water who couldn’t swim.”

Headshot lifeguard Audrey of Emler Swim School in Round Rock

Audrey from Emler Swim School of Round Rock:

What’s your favorite Emler memory?
  • “My favorite Emler memory would have to be the first-ever Field Day. I was still at Anderson-Mill, because Round Rock hadn’t opened yet. We were a really big team and we had some much fun that day. I had the most fun during the lip sync battle which we ended up winning!”
As a lifeguard, what is your number one water safety tip?
  • “My number one water safety tip would be to participate in year-round swimming! I have seen so much progress with all of my kiddos, but especially ones who swim year-round. Being constantly in the water allows for those swimming skills to always be fresh in a kid’s mind and allows them to be the safest they can be.”
What’s your favorite memory as a lifeguard?
  •  “My favorite memory as a lifeguard would have to be lifeguarding one of my student’s party. It was awesome getting to watch her and her friends have a blast in the same pool that she learned to swim in. There was so much food and getting to see the smile on her face during her party made me feel so much joy.”

Makenzie from Emler Swim School of Round Rock:

What’s your favorite Emler memory?
  • “Having the opportunity to bring my nephew to classes and see him grow as a swimmer in the Emler program!”
As a lifeguard, what is your number one water safety tip?
  • Have your children within arms-reach of a responsible adult at all times and always have a life jacket available. Designate a Water Watcher during outings, make sure at minimum one parent is not on their phone and actively paying attention to the water.
What’s your favorite memory as a lifeguard?
  • “We hosted the Conley Duke Foundation Open Swim, and it was amazing seeing our families come out for a good cause!”

We’re incredibly proud of our lifeguards and the hard work they put into keeping our pools safe. The best way to keep your pool safe at home is to always have a Water Watcher, and keep eyes and ears on any body of water that children might be around.

We offer year-round swim lessons at Emler so that children can continuously work on their water skills. Even with the summer ending, our pools stay the same warm temperature all year long so that no matter the temp outside, it stays comfortable in our facilities. Fall lessons are open for sign-ups now, be sure to get your children enrolled so they stay Emler Sure!
