Waterbabies Austin – Anderson Mill

6 months – 35 months

The Waterbabies classes only seem like fun and games. But this is where natural swimming for pure joy begins, in a wonderful environment with parental love and warm smiles all round.

Baby Swimming Classes in Austin - Anderson Mill

According to the Emler Guarantee, every child has the opportunity to discover the pleasure of water activities and become a skilled swimmer in a safe and secure environment.

At Emler Swim School Austin Anderson Mill, children as young as 6 months can begin their swim lessons. Additionally, even infants aged 2-5 months can engage in water-based activities  for bath time with our guidance.

When can my babies start their swimming lessons?

The question of when a baby can begin taking swim lessons has been answered by the American Academy of Pediatrics, which suggests that children can start as early as one year old. However, Emler Swim School’s 48 years of experience and award-winning curriculum demonstrate that starting swim lessons at 6 months old can also be highly effective. Specifically designed classes for infants are available, providing both parental and instructor support, love, and safety.

Can I really start my baby learning to swim at 6 months old?

Absolutely! Emler Swim School offers Waterbabies classes starting from 6 months old, which continue until your child reaches 3 years old, at which point they can graduate to the Aquatots program. By this stage, they will already be able to cover a distance of up to 8-10 feet in the water! When infants are introduced to water in an effective way, they often develop a fondness for it. That’s why we also offer a pre-class introduction to water-based fun and games for bath time for both parents and infants, beginning from as young as 2 months old. Please review the options below to select the class that best suits your child.

The Emler approach to baby swim lessons

The Emler baby swimming classes are all about having fun and games – no doubt about it! Swimming is inherently enjoyable, and at Emler, we use toys, songs, and games to make the aquatic environment less daunting for the little ones. Water activities come naturally to kids, and swimming enhances the pleasure even more. With loving and affectionate parents, cuddles, and warm smiles, your child can learn to swim in a joyful environment that’s perfect for them.

Emler Swim School offers baby swim classes that prioritize love and comfort. We don’t use forceful methods that cause fear and discomfort, and every child is accompanied by a parent in the water. Our focus is on fun and positive reinforcement rather than competition and stress. At Emler, we celebrate every baby’s accomplishments and make swimming a memorable experience for them. Babies love to learn, grow, and have fun – and that’s exactly what we offer at Emler!

Water safety for the rest of their lives

Teaching children how to swim and instilling a sense of confidence in the water is a valuable gift that parents can bestow upon their kids. In today’s world, with standing water all around us, water safety is an essential life skill. Even seemingly harmless objects like bathtubs, mop buckets, and toilets can pose a drowning hazard.

However, childhood drowning is preventable. Teaching children to appreciate, understand, navigate and love the water along with careful supervision can save lives. At Emler Swim School, we can help babies as young as 2 months old become comfortable and happy in the water.

Learning to swim in a nurturing, loving, and enjoyable environment can lead to a lifetime of water-based enjoyment. When children become devoted water fans, choosing vacation destinations and activities becomes more enjoyable – even a trip to the local pool can turn into an easy family outing.

Which class should I invest in?

Children may not realize it, but at Emler Swim School, their learning is expertly structured from the very first levels up to championship skills. To the kids, it just feels like they’re having a blast as they continuously achieve new milestones and improve their swimming abilities.

Parents, we invite you to take a closer look at our structured lesson plans below to see where your child fits into our Emler swim classes. From beginner levels to advanced championship skills, we have a program tailored to suit every child’s needs and abilities.

With the assistance of a skilled instructor, you will learn how to increase your baby’s comfort and teach underwater breath control. Kicking in a noodle boat is a favorite activity along with back floating under London Bridge. Waterbabies learn to submerge 8 to 10 seconds and kick 3 feet through the water.

Waterbabies+

Parents join baby in the water

The Plus class is for babies who have learned the basics and are now comfortable under the water and can control their breath for 8 to 10 seconds. Now they learn to strike out on their own a little, and kick forward through the water three feet. Our instructors are super-attentive during this important class because it’s where babies learn that the water is not a struggle but a place to play in and travel through, for the sheer joy of swimming.

And don’t worry, Mom and Dad, a skilled instructor is right there for you too, cheering you on so YOU can feel confident as your baby concentrates on the fun.

Advanced Waterbabies

Parent joins baby in the water

The Advanced class is for the babies who now regard the water as fun – a supportive medium rather than a challenge. These little veterans of the Waterbabies training will learn to kick through the water 5 feet, while holding their breath. It’s time to learn some moves.

Watch your baby practice entering the water, turning around to kick back to the wall, and then climbing out of the water. Congratulations, you have a water baby! It’s okay to cry a little if you want – everyone gathers to watch at this exciting stage of learning, as young ones start playing in the water with natural confidence.

Super Waterbabies

Parent joins baby in the water for the first 3 weeks

The Supers class is for two years of age, toddlers on land maybe, but able to move five feet through the water with ease. During this series of classes, parents will eventually get out of the water and cheer from the sidelines as the children learn more skills.

This class extends the range to seven feet of swimming and teaches: a sitting jump entry, then a turn in the water and a swim back to the wall. It’s going to be easy to encourage from the edge of the pool as these little swimmers have fun.

X-treme Waterbabies

Parent not in the water

Let’s get X-treme! The 7 feet that the Supers can already swim will be extended to 10 feet. And that’s just the start. In this class, your toddler now learns rollover breathing, and the sitting jump now becomes a standing jump, with a turn and swim back to safety.
