Emler Swim School Again Named Best Place to Work in 2021

Emler has done it again! Emler Swim School has recently been named one of the BEST PLACES TO WORK in Dallas, Austin, and Houston. The Austin Business Journal, Dallas Business Journal, and Houston Business Journal recently ranked Emler as one of the top 100 places to work in these three regions of Texas. Emler was notified of the awards in July of this year, with the official rankings becoming available in late fall.

Emler Swim School ranked 14th in the medium-sized company category in Dallas, 7th in Austin, and 14th/15th in Houston. These are great honors and we are very proud of them!

“Amid titanic shifts in how we live and work – from widespread adoption of working from home to new ways of supporting essential workers – these 71 companies stood out for their commitment to employee satisfaction,” said Austin Business Journal business manager Will Anderson.

Emler CEO Greg Laird responded to the news by saying, “We work hard to create an environment where people look forward to coming to work, so we’re really proud of this recognition. If anyone wants a meaningful job that is fun, we’re happy to have them.”

The Business Journals conduct surveys every year to find the best places to work in each geographical region. They work with research firm Quantum Workplace to confidentially survey all employees about the following six areas of the company’s culture:

  • Communication and Resources
  • Individual Needs
  • Manager Effectiveness
  • Personal Engagement
  • Team Dynamics
  • Trust in Leadership

Then, they compile all the data and survey results, resulting in a list of the top 100 places to work in a certain area. Companies are ranked and compared to other companies of a similar size (i.e., small companies are compared to other small companies, large companies are compared with other large companies, etc.).

Emler Swim School achieves such recognition partly as a result of offering employees benefits, support and development that make us stand out as an employer:

  • Employees are offered a set schedule that will work around their school classes or other commitments.
  • Emler provides all training to each employee because we hire for unique quality characteristics like being caring and dependable more so than technical skills.
  • We extend room for growth and cross-training to every employee (Emler was also named as one of the fastest growing, privately held companies in 2020 in the SMU Cox Dallas 100 Entrepreneur Awards.)
  • Emler rewards accomplishments, such as giving swim instructors higher pay when they earn their lifeguard certification, and acknowledges the great work each individual contributes to their local Emler team.

And one of the most rewarding benefits of all is seeing the kids’ confidence bloom when they achieve childhood milestones through our excellent swim program.
